About us

Formosus Home is a design furniture brand founded by Chih-Hao Shao and Hsi-Chieh Hsu in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in the winter of 2023.

Both of us were born and raised in Taiwan and eventually moved to the Netherlands for different reasons. Chih-Hao grew up in furniture stores while his father was busy with delivering handmade mattresses from one shop to another. Hsi-Chieh always holds a strong connection with culture from the aspects of food and music. It is our common love for Taiwanese culture and appreciation for dedication that brings about the brand.

A living space is an embodiment of our thoughts, values and even aspirations. This is why we choose furniture as the vehicle to express our passion for Taiwanese culture and craftsmanship. We collaborate with designers and makers in Taiwan, and introduce to a broader audience their creations that are handmade by skilled craftspeople. We hope, by promoting Taiwanese design and crafts, we will be able to preserve its cultural heritage and create the conditions where it can evolve continuously.
